‘Seen in Our Garden’, an exhibition of forty drawings and water colour paintings by local artist Greta Hart was inspired by the cycle of seasons in her garden at Llanllowell Nr Usk.
When asked how the garden had inspired her, Greta said:
“I find the experience of seasonal cycles fascinating, the message of impermanence, intriguing, challenging, affirming. I find it quite difficult to accept the closing, withering and passing stage, with the same excitement I feel seeing the unfolding of a new bud, opening, but the whole provides me with a platform for invaluable learning and expression.
“In 2015, I followed this process more closely through my painting and drawing. Each month of the year offered me a flower gift to explore and relate to. Each season merging with the other, appearing, blossoming, fading. Each season offering a different flower, colour, shape, atmosphere. An opportunity to experience and connect with the essence that allows, in this case, the inspiration of our garden, and the outcome of this body of work.”
“Fifty percent of the proceeds from the exhibition are going to two charities, the locally based Jane Hathaway Trust for children with leukaemia and the Thomas House Project in Thailand. During February 2017 I had a wonderful adventure visiting my family living in Northern Thailand. As part of this adventure I visited The Thomas House project and was impressed with the work the charity is doing to support children with special needs.

The ‘Seen in our Garden’ exhibition runs from 17.06.17 until 01.07.17 at Morris’s of Usk Garden Centre and Nurseries, Llanbadoc, Nr. Usk.
