Sarah has purchased a previously working farm and transformed it into a beautiful farm house and holiday let by its previous owners. This allows her to continue the success of her retreat business.

More to Mountain Retreats is a business specialising in weekend retreats for busy individuals who need time away from their corporate lives to re-charge and re-focus. Since 2004, Sarah has worked in the field of personal development, specifically in leadership development, improving ease of communication within teams, one to one coaching and reducing stress in the workplace. Sarah took this concept and became her own boss in 2009 when More to Mountain Retreats was born.

Sarah has a clear passion for the outdoors having trekked in the Annapurna Mountains in 2000 which led towards this career change. Sarah was part of the team which made several first ascents in the Peruvian Andes in 2005. Previous to this she climbed the Alps and Himalayas. Mountains are an integral part of Sarah’s life and today she brings the experience of big mountain pacing to her coaching and development business.

More than 52 retreats have taken place over the last 8 years resulting in repeat business. The coaching Sarah provides flow around her client’s needs, helping them relax and/or discover more to life. Most clients typically give a lot to others, either in a caring profession or in the service they provide and many have said More to Mountain Retreats is the one place they can relax and release their sense of responsibility.

Sarah Maliphant, Owner of More to Mountain Retreats, explains: “At my old premises I was limited to holding retreat sessions six or seven times a year but the investment in my new premises has made it a workable business model and will allow more guests to thrive the whole year round. I’m thrilled at the results so far as the diary is already filing up.

“The Welsh Mountains is where I learnt my guiding skills and makes it an ideal location to coach, develop and explore the area of natural beauty. This is why I see so many of my clients return as the Brecon Beacons are the perfect tonic.

“I’m a business woman now, but the reason I am in business is to serve and that will always be what inspires me to succeed. Thanks to Royal Bank of Scotland, all of this has been achievable and will allow my business to build even further.”

Jon Field, Relationship Director at Royal Bank of Scotland in Cardiff, said: “Getting to know Sarah and her retreat business has been a real pleasure. Her calm and caring nature and love for the mountains is what makes her so good at what she does and we have no doubt this investment in new premises will serve her well.”
