Vicky, we understand that this is a family run business; can you tell us a bit more about World of Kitchens?
We launched World of Kitchens back in 1996, choosing this location as we’re local to the area, and because it wasn’t part of a typical high street. Our aim then, as now, was to offer a quality independent alternative to the high street for our potential clients.
As the business has grown we’ve expanded our dedicated team, we have trained our two designers Matt & Paul who have been with us 25 years between them and our son has recently joined the business.
And we hear that you’ve won quite a few awards?
Yes we were thrilled to achieve Best Burbidge Showroom of the Year 2015; Burbidge has been established since 1867 and are renowned for their kitchen furniture.
Also we were the only award winning Welsh retailer in the 2009 Neff Excellence Awards, and we were runner-up in the Neff National Design Awards 2012.
How do you keep up with new ideas, products and industry advancements?
We’re constantly researching trade magazines and we visit UK trade shows where we source new suppliers, particularly in lighting which can change dramatically.
And is there anything in particular that is on-trend right now?
Painted kitchen doors are very popular in varying shades of grey. Having said that, not all clients want the latest fashion; we offer everything from modern gloss kitchens to wood kitchens, all with a choice of colours. We have a good mix of modern & traditional kitchens on display and a new display is showcased every six months.
What advice would you give our readers who may be planning on updating their kitchen?
Word of mouth / recommendation is usually a failsafe. Choose a proven supplier with a wealth of experience, and who offers a variety of quality products backed up with excellent customer service and design, is key to the overall success of the remodel.
Our whole process is project managed, from concept to completion; including electrics, plumbing, tiling and fitting.
And last but not least – do you have any plans for the future of the business?
Well we’ve just launched our latest display; we have cookery demos in the pipeline, and next year will be our 20th anniversary! Look out for events and news on our Facebook page.
