Quirky café by day, and bespoke dining by night, owners Paul and Shelley Walker have relocated The Potting Shed from its previous home in Monmouth, to the village of Whitchurch, just a few miles away, where they serve breakfasts, lunches, afternoon teas and a full evening menu as well.

The Potting Shed has been a well-loved venue for many a customer since 2014, when Paul and Shelley have seen their ‘hidden gem’ of a vintage garden café become ever more popular, prompting their move to bigger, warmer and more permanent premises. Having instantly fallen in love with the building (historically a 19th century library and coffee house, many years later home to the well-known Gallery Restaurant, and latterly of ces) the couple set about changing the use, and The Potting Shed Whitchurch opened its doors on March 1st this year.

Regulars will be delighted they’ve kept that magical, quirky laid-back feel,
and too that they’re still serving the same good honest home-cooked food that has become their own unique signature.

Their new home is proving a perfect place for locals to dine, and is fast becoming popular with the myriad of tourists visiting the area, with easy disabled access and off-road customer parking. Professional Chef Paul cooks the meals fresh every day, and caters exceptionally well for any special diets, including gluten free, dairy free, vegetarians and just plain fussy eaters! because the menus can be adapted to suit your own dietary requirements, and you can order any special meals ahead of your visit.

Produce is fresh and seasonal, sourced from local suppliers (within a 30 mile radius) and Shelley, a professional gardener, always on hand for gardening advice, grows a range of fresh herbs and edible owers for Paul to use in the kitchen too. Their innovative menus are based on good value Anglo-French dining, and are changed monthly. Alongside lunch and evening dining, their cooked breakfasts are legendary, as are their traditional ‘home from home’ traditional Sunday lunches and afternoon teas.

This is a great place to meet friends for lunch, to stop off for refreshments if you’ve been walking, cycling (with or without your dog!) motorbiking, or taking your classic car out for a weekend spin. And don’t worry too much about muddy boots, paws or spokes, as all are equally welcomed in the right place! They even have free Wi-Fi for those who like to stay connected.

If you’re planning a special event you’ll be delighted to hear that the restaurant can seat up to 35 people, and is available for private parties including small wedding receptions, christenings, birthdays, of ce parties, and more. It’s the perfect venue for your special occasion and offers a unique dining experience whether cosy and relaxed with a crackling log re during the colder months, or a pretty and beautifully- scented al fresco dining experience outdoors in the summer.

From December 1st there will be Festive special menus available for lunch and dinner, and because this popular café/restaurant is limited by space, it is always advisable to book as far ahead as possible.
