Lisa Haughton’s labour of love, Flaunt, is open for business. Wye Life popped over to take a peek at her fabulous new shop.
Lisa, a little bird tells us it’s been quite a year for you.
That’s right, I got married in July, we’ve moved into our new home – and I’ve very recently launched Flaunt Home & Gifts.
What led you to open this beautiful shop?
With my two children having grown up and flown the nest the timing was perfect to consider this next stage in my life. A year ago I set up a business called Flaunt Jewellery which I ran from home. I loved choosing the right pieces for all age groups, and it proved very successful. So, when I was offered the opportunity to take on this shop I jumped at the chance. I also upcycle furniture so this was the perfect time to combine the two, and add gorgeous gifts and home accessories.

Thank you. Once I’d decided which products to stock the rest fell into place. I’m thrilled with the pieces I’ve chosen – we offer furniture, jewellery, handbags, cards, gifts and home accessories. Some of our current brands are Village Candles, Miss Patisserie, East of India, Love the Links, Rose & co, Febland and Sass & Belle. I’m constantly updating our ranges so that each time our customers pop in there’ll be something new in store.
How did you decide on Caerleon as your location?
Caerleon has very much become a destination town; as well as the Roman attractions it also has a great range of very popular Restaurants & Cafés. I saw there was a gap in the market for more retail offerings and as I live locally, and we often frequent the great restaurants in the area, there was already a pull towards the town. As well as tourists, local people are coming into the town for their shopping – Sainsbury’s, Spar, World of Kitchens, The Goldcroft, and Roberts & Co are all right on our doorstep.
We know you’ve just opened – but any plans for the future?
Actually yes, the shop has an adjoining room at the rear which we’ll be converting so that I can carry on with my furniture upcycling projects in-house. We’re also planning themed evening shopping events so please follow us on Facebook so that you can keep up to date with our news and offers.
Going back to our opening – I’d like to thank my husband Hugh who has been a constant support, and a major factor in Flaunt opening on time.
